Sympathy.

sympathy
The ability to feel sympathy for others is a great part of what make us human, and it's what compels us to reach out and offer help. So have sympathy for people who confuse this word with empathy — they're awfully close in meaning. Feeling sympathy means you feel sorry for someone's situation, even if you've never been there yourself. Empathy is when you truly understand and can feel what another person is going though. sympathy for people who confuse this word with empathy — they're awfully close in meaning. The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others.

Truly, it is in darkness that one finds the light, so when we are in sorrow, then this light is nearest of all to us. There should be a sympathy with freedom, a desire to give it scope, founded not upon visionary ideas, but upon the long experience of many generations within the shores of this happy isle, that in freedom you lay the firmest foundations both of loyalty and order.
If our hearts are ready for anything, we can open to our inevitable losses, and to the depths of our sorrow. We can grieve our lost loves, our lost youth, our lost health, our lost capacities. This is part of our humanness, part of the expression of our love for life.
I have the greatest sympathy with the growth of the socialist party. I think they understand the evils that surround us and hammer them into people's minds better than we Liberals.
A person who has sympathy for mankind in the lump, faith in its future progress, and desire to serve the great cause of this progress, should be called not a humanist, but a humanitarian, and his creed may be designated as humanitarianism. The rule of friendship means there should be mutual sympathy between them, each supplying what the other lacks and trying to benefit the other, always using friendly and sincere words.
I believe that we must reach our brother, never toning down our fundamental oppositions, but meeting him when he asks to be met, with a reason for the faith that is in us, as well as with a loving sympathy for them as brothers.

Some qouets of sympathy:
"Grief is the price we pay for love."
"It's sad when someone you know becomes someone you knew."
"When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions."
"Happiness is beneficial for the body, but it is grief that develops the powers of the mind."
"A sorrow's crown of sorrow is remembering happier times."
"Sorrow is a fruit. God does not make it grow on limbs too weak to bear it."
"The more sympathy you give, the less you need."
"A human life is a story told by God."

We all have to announce our full solidarity with the struggle of those seeking freedom and justice in Syria, and translate this sympathy into a clear political vision that supports a peaceful transition to a democratic system of rule that reflects the demands of the Syrian people for freedom.
