Love Is Patient.

love is patient
“Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.”

Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
love is patient
'Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female,' and said, 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."
Marriage will last for a lifetime, where the wedding ceremony was only for a day. Let's not forget that we are making a long term decision of being committed to one person under the blessing of God. Bound by their love and His, they can never be separated again.
love is patient

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant
Love is patient, love is kind, love is not envious, it is not boastful, it is not puffed up.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Love is always patient; love is always kind; love is never envious or arrogant with pride. Nor is she conceited,
Love is patient. Love is kind. Love isn't jealous. It doesn't sing its own praises. It isn't arrogant.
Charity is patient, is kind: charity envieth not, dealeth not perversely; is not puffed up;
Love is patient and kind. Love knows neither envy nor jealousy. Love is not forward and self-assertive, nor boastful and conceited.
Love is patient and sweet; love does not envy; love is not upset neither puffed up.

Anyway, after going over all the different types of spiritual gifts that God might bless people with, Paul points out that the greatest gift in the entire world is love.  If you have love in your heart, then you basically have everything you need to live a happy life.
And what is love? Paul's glad you asked.
Basically, a loving person is tolerant and understanding and gracious and thoughtful to everyone they meet. It's most certainly not loving to act greedy or cocky or jerky to your friends and neighbors.
Let's all hold hands and love each other, people.
We must not forget there is more to romantic love than what is emphasized by the wedding industry. Weddings are about love bound by commitment and trust and glorification to God. Yes, "Love is patient, love is kind," but those sweet and kind words are usually taken out of context, distorting the real statement and meaning Paul wanted us to understand.
